Lindsey contacted me a couple weeks before she was due to be married, telling me about how her and George had finally decided to tie the knot after 15 years together. Neither of them had ever been married, so it was neat to see it happen for them. The wedding took place at the Dream Inn, which is a beautiful venue right on the beach in downtown Santa Cruz – with panoramic views of the Boardwalk, wharf and the bay. It was an intimate affair with only the closest friends and family attending, which often means a more emotional and connected experience for everyone. A couple amazing moments I’ll never forget: George, after being asked if wished to take Lindsey as his bride, enthusiastically shouting out “SURE!” (cue raucous laughter) and also the surreal moment during the ceremony when two birds landed on the tiny ledge outside the window; everyone gasped at the interruption and later exclaimed how they believed it was the spirit of Lindsey’s parents coming to witness the union.
