San Francisco Shirt Company Models @ Intero Event, Fairmont Hotel (Event Photography)

I do a lot of work for Franco Uomo and San Francisco Shirt Company – both high-end clothing designers with stores in Santana Row. Angelina, the manager at SF Shirt Co., was involved with a cocktail party fashion show preceding Intero’s 8th Annual Achievement Awards at The Fairmont Hotel, San Jose. Wow that was a mouthful. Basically Angelina had some male and female models elevated on platforms above the throngs of excited partygoers. I took photos of both the models and the crowd – just some general event coverage. San Francisco Shirt Company Grand Opening and Fashion Show (Event Photography)

My friends at Franco Uomo just opened their new business at Santana Row – and it’s called San Francisco Shirt Company. It’s high-end, fashionable, and mostly for the ladies. I took some interiors and details of the store last week, and today was the official grand opening, replete with a red carpet fashion show (models courtesy HMM), live music, sweet hats from BRIM, and of course, great looking threads. I’m by no means qualified to write about anything fashion-related, but the outfits looked great, and the crowd loved it. Angelina is the mastermind behind all this great stuff, although she won’t admit it. Check the store out for yourself – it’s smack in the middle of Santana Row in San Jose – right across the street from Hotel Valencia.

I took some candids before and after the show, as well as some runway shots. Nothing too fantastic or posed – just off the cuff kinda work. Some is good, some not so much. Again, you judge. BRIM Grand Opening / Fashion Show (Event Photography)

My good friend Joelle Cruz and wife Ana just held their grand opening event at their new boutique hat store named BRIM. It’s located in the Town and Country Shopping Center at the corner of Embarcadero and El Camino in Palo Alto, CA. This event was catered (awesome desserts by Mason Cookery), with a fashion show put on with many local stores as clothing and accessories sources, and models from HMM. Live music provided an upbeat background as the guests browsed the fantastic large print photography of destroyed Apple products by Michael Tompert and Paul Fairchild . I talked to Paul for a while about his brilliant commercial photography, and pressed him on how many injuries were suffered during the destruction-phase of the art project (there was blood). Their work has gained global recognition, simply google “destroyed apple” to find the compelling imagery they’ve created.

Joelle and Ana seemed to enjoy themselves, chatting up the many friends and business associates they’ve connected with over the years. The space was packed and everyone was thoroughly entertained. Many congratulations my friends, here’s to a successful launch of BRIM and a huge 2011 for the Cruz family. Franco Uomo Clothing Details

One of the defining characteristics of Franco Uomo’s fine men’s clothing is the material used to make it. The colors, the subtle (and not so subtle) patterns, and most especially the luxurious texture. All these elements combine to create truly unique garments that keep discerning clients coming back time and again. We wanted to have a photo shoot specifically to capture the details that make Franco’s clothing so amazing. I wanted to do more than just get closeup detail shots – so we created little staged setups – enjoy them below!

Franco Uomo Fashion @ Santana Row (Men’s Clothing)

Franco has a bunch of new clothes to show off, and since he’s already located at beautiful Santana Row, it stands to reason that we’d do our fashion shoot here. Every alley is a gem, with beautiful textured wood and vibrant paint. It’s tough to take a bad photo with all the wonderful backdrops to work with. Here’s a few of my favorites from the shoot – the first several photos showing the prep and background work for the shoot. Thanks to Erandeny Torres for her hair/makeup work, Angelina for all that shoe-taping and wardrobe adjusting – and of course Franco, as this is all his vision to begin with. In Her Shoes (Local Biz)

I’m not really into wearing women’s shoes, but if I were, I couldn’t go wrong at In Her Shoes, located in the Town & Country Shopping Center in Palo Alto. The thing that makes this place unique, aside from the fashionable high heels, jewelry and other accessories, is that all the profits go to The Global Fund For Women. Did I say all? Indeed I did. Santana Row Posters for Franco Uomo (Men’s Fashion)

Franco asked me to design some posters to advertise his men’s clothing clothing store – the posters (approximately 24″ x 27″) will be displayed around Santana Row on self-supporting metal stands at strategic locations. I’m leaning towards the single-photo versions as they are more direct and eye-catching to the casual shopper. I kept the design to a minimum so as to not distract from the photos, which should tell the story. I mean, if we have 1,000 words already, why mess it up with more

Fashionable Gift Cards (Design + Photography)

I love Franco Uomo’s clothing. From an aesthetic standpoint, it’s damn sharp, damn sexy-looking men’s clothing. From a design perspective, it’s colorful, contrasty, and accented in the right places. After our successful fashion shoot at Santana Row a couple weeks ago, Franco and his store manager Angelina came to me with a design challenge. They wanted some gift cards printed up using one of the photos from our shoot, but needed help with the design. I suggested looking into printing multiple gift cards with different photos, so they could be displayed all spread across a table, like a mini portfolio. The other challenge was Franco Uomo’s logo – it’s wide, and we didn’t want to scale it down too much so it became illegible, so I came up with these vertical layouts for the card. Enjoy!

Just Give Me “Blue Steel” Already… (Fashion)

I met with critically-acclaimed clothing designer Franco Uomo at his Santana Row location to shoot some of his creations on our model, Jason. The store manager, Angelina Haole, was indispensable as she dragged the rolling clothes hanger up and down the alleys of Santana Row, all the while providing constructive creative input. Franco whisked in and out of the frame making minor adjustments from time to time, and Jason did a simply excellent job posing and was a good sport about changing in the shadows on the fly. Big thanks for my photographer buddy Sam Fontejon for coming by to assist and take a few shots. Here’s a few shots from the 400-odd photos posted on my portfolio site:
