49ers Patrick Willis and Alex Smith (Portraits, Charity)

Morton’s the Steakhouse (San Jose) is partnering up with the San Francisco 49ers for their upcoming “Celebrity Servers” event. It’s a fund-raising effort to benefit different charities that each celebrity chooses to represent. If you’d like to be served by Alex Smith or Patrick Willis and have the opportunity to bid on signed sports memorabilia at the auction, seats will set you back at least $250 (price not set). But that’s a small price to pay to not only rub elbows with some of the 49ers finest, but also increase your karma by benefiting the charities.

Patrick and Alex were totally cool, we had fun during our 20-minute shoot. I didn’t ask them to do anything crazy – they’re bigger than me so I didn’t want to push my luck. Here’s a few photos from this morning’s shoot below, the rest can be seen here.

I met with John Bentley at his newest self-named restaurant location in Redwood City to take some professional photos for advertising and the restaurant’s self promotion. I did my usual HDR-thang with the interiors, shot some details, and got some nice food shots of a few select dishes. Of course I sampled everything after shooting, so it was a highly enjoyable experience… the watermelon with crab meat and avocado especially delighted my tastebuds, can you taste these photos below? Please do yourself a favor and visit John Bentley’s as soon as humanly possible. And no, the sub-par photos currently adorning their website are not mine, as you can plainly see.

Lion and Compass is a really elegant restaurant in Sunnyvale, perfect for a Sunday brunch or any time you want to impress your friends / family / clients. It has a nice, open, airy feel with lots of natural light, and the food is superb. And the free valet parking is a nice touch! Tarragon is an amazing restaurant owned and managed by Dottia Bilic (and hubby) located in downtown Sunnyvale – you know – Murphy Street. Downstairs is a first-class restaurant with open kitchen, upstairs is a large banquet and patio space perfect for weddings/receptions. It’s a great venue to eat and to party, and I highly recommend them for both!

Faultline Brewery in Sunnyvale needed some new shots, so of course I was there to do what I do best – eat food! Did I just say that? Um… well, I shot it, THEN ate it, like a good boy. This is actually quite a nice location for a wedding (Sarah + Matt), there’s lots of indoor banquet space + the outside is basically a huge park with a pond and ducks and everything!

Mike and Fera own Arya Global Cuisine in Cupertino – it’s a beautiful space off El Camino Real. They have created a unique blend of Persian, Italian and American cuisine that is really quite good. I had a quick shoot today with Lee Duvall’s Medallion Steakhouse in Burlingame. She wanted some interiors of the restaurant that opened late last year – and since this is my specialty I was on the case. We managed to shoot a tasty-looking steak (it was wayyy too rare to eat unfortunately) and some crab cakes, paired with appropriate vino, of course

So, yesterday I shot some interiors for Faz at MacArthur Park Restaurant in Palo Alto, and they liked the photos so much they wanted to see what I could do with their food. I obliged, and invited some friends to help eat the tasty morsels. If I didn’t get help eating all the time, I’d be huuuge by now! We shot a few dishes as well as some kitchen candids and some shots of some customers eating ribs. And those ribs… my God, you gotta try them. I’ve been hearing about this frozen yogurt place for a while now, but it’s hard to get excited about “another” froyo place, I mean the opening of these places is practically an epidemic.
