San Francisco Shirt Company Models @ Intero Event, Fairmont Hotel (Event Photography)

I do a lot of work for Franco Uomo and San Francisco Shirt Company – both high-end clothing designers with stores in Santana Row. Angelina, the manager at SF Shirt Co., was involved with a cocktail party fashion show preceding Intero’s 8th Annual Achievement Awards at The Fairmont Hotel, San Jose. Wow that was a mouthful. Basically Angelina had some male and female models elevated on platforms above the throngs of excited partygoers. I took photos of both the models and the crowd – just some general event coverage. College Girls and Bunny Attack Capitola Beach (People Photography)

OK, so this shoot required some kind of sensational headline. To be honest, college girls aren’t exactly my target demographic, but in the next few years they could all be potential bride-clients, so you never know. Regardless, we all had a blast shooting at the fogged-in Capitola Beach this morning. It was 10am when we started, and of course we had the beach to ourselves. We stuck to the area around the wharf for the photos of the four girls and their (mascot?) bunny rabbit, Don Julio. Or was it Jose Cuervo? Doesn’t matter, I’m pretty sure bunnies aren’t allowed on the beach off leash. Or on leash, for that matter. We busted the Don out of his cage for a couple shots – but then quickly shut him back up. I tried to hold him but apparently he doesn’t like dudes, and he immediately shed half his fur onto my shirt – so there’s no love lost between us. Sorry, Don.

With the four girls, I couldn’t help but feel we were doing a Sex in the City: The Beginning photo shoot – I don’t know why, maybe because there’s four of them, maybe because they all have their own unique personalities, maybe because they’re all cute and bubbly, who knows. We all had fun with the shoot, and I hope I captured a few frames that will remind them of this time of their lives, their friendship and college camaraderie.

Elizabeth (Portrait)

I met Elizabeth at Natural Bridges this evening to shoot some portraits for her personal use. She’s an intellectual, and fun to chat with while we hiked around the trails at this beautiful park. Elizabeth is a little mysterious – well I did just meet her – but I thought I’d try to capture a little of her unique personality with these photos. As the sun set, our photos got darker, more dramatic, and they just felt more “right” – you be the judge. Franco Uomo Fashion @ Santana Row (Men’s Clothing)

Franco has a bunch of new clothes to show off, and since he’s already located at beautiful Santana Row, it stands to reason that we’d do our fashion shoot here. Every alley is a gem, with beautiful textured wood and vibrant paint. It’s tough to take a bad photo with all the wonderful backdrops to work with. Here’s a few of my favorites from the shoot – the first several photos showing the prep and background work for the shoot. Thanks to Erandeny Torres for her hair/makeup work, Angelina for all that shoe-taping and wardrobe adjusting – and of course Franco, as this is all his vision to begin with. Drink it up Palo Altans!

If you’re looking for a place to drop in for a cocktail with friends, maybe some fine dining or enjoy a custom-made chocolate – stop by Shokolaat on University Ave. in Palo Alto. It’s a restaurant, patisserie, chocolatier and lounge, all wrapped up in one neat little package. Tell them Chris from GoodEye Photography says “hey”! We spent about ten minutes with this “lifestyle” shoot – our “models” did a pretty good job looking natural; I know it’s a tough thing to do with a camera in your face and strobes firing every few seconds. We really only needed a couple shots, so it was relatively quick and painless. I think if there was actually alcohol in those drinks things could’ve gotten a little crazy… Enjoy all 50 photos here.

Just Give Me “Blue Steel” Already… (Fashion)

I met with critically-acclaimed clothing designer Franco Uomo at his Santana Row location to shoot some of his creations on our model, Jason. The store manager, Angelina Haole, was indispensable as she dragged the rolling clothes hanger up and down the alleys of Santana Row, all the while providing constructive creative input. Franco whisked in and out of the frame making minor adjustments from time to time, and Jason did a simply excellent job posing and was a good sport about changing in the shadows on the fly. Big thanks for my photographer buddy Sam Fontejon for coming by to assist and take a few shots. Here’s a few shots from the 400-odd photos posted on my portfolio site:

Watercourse Way Fashion Shoot

Many thanks to everyone involved in this last-minute Wave Magazine cover photo shoot! Dorian at Watercourse Way Bath House (http://www.watercourseway.com) in Palo Alto opened the doors to their business for three hours today, and with only 24 hours notice! We had the choice of two rooms, we took the bigger one with more natural light, even though we were mostly using strobes that we brought. Many thanks to Paul Ferradas (fellow photographer, http://www.ferradasphotography.com/) and Danielle Asher (professional model, http://www.daniellamarie.com) for being available – also on short notice. And of course props to Jo Abbie, Wave Senior Editor – she had the ingenious idea of “opening” the fresh tulips she brought so they’d float properly on the water! It’s funny how things tend to come together at the last minute.

I narrowed the many photos down to these 100. Some are cover potentials, others are just fun. Click here for Paul’s pics of me in action!
