2015 Year in Review

I have a really hard time picking my favorites from each shoot, but it’s a great exercise to review your work from time to time. This is the first installment of what I hope becomes an annual tradition – picking JUST ONE photo from each of my shoots from the past year, be it a business portrait […]

Valerie + Mark (Engagement Photography) @ Central Park, Santa Clara

Even Google Maps has a tough time finding Central Park in Santa Clara – my iPhone kept insisting I must drive to New York City if I wanted to meet Valerie and Mark for their engagement session! Luckily we all found our way there – even if we did start on opposite sides of this […]

Hyatt House (Hotel Photography) @ Santa Clara

The Hyatt rebranded one of their hotels in Santa Clara and called me up to get some architectural photos of it. I showed up a little before sunset, and stayed until a little after to get that nice light us photographers always look for. Luckily there were clouds in the sky to add some visual […]

Jenn + Jacob (San Jose Wedding Photography) @ The Mission Santa Clara and The Corinthian

Our first photographic encounter was at Central Park in Santa Clara for Jenn and Jacob’s sexy engagement session (bat and balls included). Who cares about football anyway – not me, Jenn or Jacob, apparently… While everyone was glued to their televisions watching stupid Superbowl ads, the three of us were having a blast at Central Park in Santa Clara. It’s an expansive public park with playgrounds, large fields, old trees, a baseball field, a large pond with […]

Ah, Tomatina, how I love you even though you’re kind of a chain restaurant… but I won’t hold that against you, because your pizza is sooo good! And who knew you had such succulent desserts? I mean, look at these cream-puff things? Thanks for “using” my services, I will forever thank you [burp!]. Enjoy the […]

Tips for Magazine Cover Photography (Design + Photography)

I’m lucky enough to be in a position where I can both photograph and design magazine covers, but in the real world it typically doesn’t happen this way. Often the magazine art director (AD) isn’t even involved in the shoot – they simply receive the end result and need to “make it work.” When I […]

Ocean Blue Sushi Club, Santa Clara

This is one of those hidden gems…a place stuck in a strip mall environment with rules that prevent outside upgrading…but once you go inside it’s simply stunning! I haven’t tried the food yet, but if they put half the effort into the cuisine as they did into the interior design, well… Outside, nothing special. Inside, […]

Cafe Amilia or Amilia Cafe?

OK, so this place insists it’s “Cafe Amilia” but honestly, what would you think looking at the logo? Regardless, the owners did a great job renovating this old Flames location on the El Camino in Santa Clara. The colors pop, it’s clean and just has some nice Chi going on.
