Kyle and Stephanie (Maternity Photography)

When Kyle called about 30 minutes before we were supposed to meet, I tried to postpone on him due to the weather – but as he reminded me that Stephanie was due very soon, postponing wasn’t an option. Of course I mentally slapped myself, and shook off the rainy day attitude and quickly left to meet them.

There’s just something about pregnant women that is timeless and beautiful. Stephanie was definitely glowing when I met her and her husband Kyle on this misty and rainy afternoon at Lighthouse Field State Park in Santa Cruz. I’ve only done a few maternity-style sessions, so I always look forward to new ideas and walk into each shoot with zero preconceptions about how it should go. I almost never search online for inspiration before a shoot – I just let things happen as they will and it always turns out great.

The mist and fog created an ethereal scene – which made for a romantic, transcendent setting for the couple. We did a mix of naturally and artificially lit photography, and I think the results are great. My favorites from the maternity photography session are below – there’s more to see at www.GoodEyePhotography.com.

Want professional photos of that big ol’ belly? Ok, probably not… but they can be awesome and real keepsakes!
